We are delighted to announce that our new office at John Braithwaite Community Center will be soon available, offering a number of services dealing with settlement issues, and also offering counseling with appointment. To celebrate this achievement CIF has an open house on Sunday December 4th at John Braithwaite Community Center. This reception will provide information on CIF's services at the center to the interested participants. This function is free to attend. Refreshments will be served and there will be entertainment. On Sunday October 16th , members from the dance group Flamenco Rosario will entertain us with an afternoon of dance and music and will introduce this popular Spanish dance, through a workshop with audience participation. Please join us at Park Royal Community Room from 2 – 4pm. This event is free and will be followed by a brief presentation on history of Dance in Iranian Festivals by Massoume Price.
We also like to remind you that Araz Rismani a very valued member and volunteer of CIF is running for city council in Coquitlam. He has a fundraising concert with several performers following with refreshments on Friday October 7th at 8 pm, at Red Robinson Theater in Coquitlam. The District of North Vancouver is reviewing its
Official Community Plan (OCP) to create a vision and directions
for a bright and sustainable future. The OCP will be an
important document that will help guide decisions on things
like where we locate housing, what our transportation
priorities are, and how we provide recreational and municipal
services.
The District is committed to involving a broad spectrum of residents in meaningful dialogue and an open process as the new plan is developed. As part of this dialogue, Councillor Bassam and Community Planners from the District of North Vancouver will be in attendance at the Canadian Iranian Foundation’s meeting on September 20th to discuss the development of the new OCP. The District will present a series of activities designed to get your opinion. What are your top issues and priorities? What are your ideas for the future?
